Honda CBR250RR Review

CBR250RR has become popular with back orders already inundated with announcements. On the other hand, there are also voices such as "Two cylinders with this car name?" Or "Higher than 650-750 class!" As a person who knows the first CBR250RR equipped with a 4-cylinder 45-horsepower engine mounted on an aluminum frame, I understand its dissatisfaction.

The first thing that attracts attention is the design that sets it apart from rivals. Whereas the racer replica has a simple surface configuration that is fully functional, the RR takes in complex surface configurations such as cowls, tanks, seat cowls, and mufflers to produce volume and is more effective than stubbornness. Inverted forks, aluminum swingarms, and elaborate mufflers are clearly different from other models, creating an atmosphere that is not just a thing.

Then, the expectation for driving performance expands, but the driving is a dimension different from the rival car if you put it away in one word. The engine of the completely new design generates 38 horsepower of the class top at 12,500 revolutions, but there is no low and middle revolution torque due to the high revolution and high output type on the street. If zero start is easy and 6000 rotations are made, overtaking acceleration is sufficient and easy to handle.

If the throttle is opened more than 8000 rpm, a dissonant intake sound will sound at a fair volume. It will rise. The feeling of power that can be played around 11,000 to 13,000 revolutions where this inhalation sound does not matter is decisively different from rival cars, and it feels like the VT250F in the 43 horsepower era. It has clear characteristics while conforming to current strict regulations.

Another thing that showed performance beyond expectations was handling. Banking straight at the entrance of the corner, the front tire feels high regardless of the bank angle. Even if you do not perform an intentional operation, you can turn in a straightforward manner, and if you lay it down and open the throttle, the front and rear tires will cooperate and change direction.

The stability at the deep bank angle where the bank sensor of the step touches the ground is also high without complaint, and it is easy to change the line because there is little posture change even if the throttle is turned on / off during full bank. This is because the standard tire is a street-oriented radial tire, Dunlop GPR300, and the response is mild, but the vehicle body rigidity including the suspension setting is not too high, and it matches the road level load.

If you feel the aura drifting from the looks, the power feel that doesn't feel the strict regulation, and the handling that you can enjoy the fun of sports riding, the criticism that the two-cylinders are expensive seems to be off the ground. If you ride without prejudice, you will be attracted to packaging suitable for the new generation of RRs.
