1992 Honda CB1000 Super Four

Around 1991, when the CB1000 Super Four was first released, it was an era when an emergency alert was ringing on motorcycle popularity.

It was around that time that the momentum of the racer replica models that had been gaining popularity in the market began to show a shadow. Both manufacturers and fans were looking for the “next new thing”.

Therefore, Honda proposed a sports bike with a parallel 4-cylinder engine that seems to be Honda. After all, Honda at that time had no hit products in the 750㏄ class, which had the largest displacement in Japan at that time. In 1990, only VFR750F, Africa Twin and PC800 were available. There was even a time of Steed 600 and BROS, and I couldn't think of it as a product group of manufacturers that created “Nanahan”. Anyway, there was no parallel 4-cylinder model!

In order to overcome such a situation, internal volunteers started up. The development of a new model that would normally start with marketing was started by an engineer saying “Honda is a four-cylinder! I want to make an attractive sports bike!”. Honda's majestic styling, parallel 4-cylinder, and a new standard 1000㏄ engine—the result was a Honda CB1000 Super Fore that really feels like a Honda CB lineage.

CB1000SF has since been scaled up to 1300cm and is still alive. A quarter century since then. Can the new generation CB1000R become the face of a new Honda?
